JUST IN: EAST LONDON COOL FROM THE MERCANTILE

Atterley Boutique and Spitalfields style destination The Mercantile is an independent hot-spot for fashion inspiration. Their East London store showcases an eclectic blend of emerging labels alongside unusual finds from British, Parisian and Scandinavian designers.  Owner and buyer Debra McCann talks us through the it-buy labels she's bookmarking for AW18.

“As The Mercantile London enters the new fall season, the last of the sun-baked days cool down with a reflective mood. Drawing from the memories of an intense Indian summer, the fall collections retain their strength but add a quietness that softens as we head into the new season. Expect a kaleidoscope of fresh new colour and print alongside textural knitwear and the most incredible denim.”

The Fine Print

“Prints that work with a tan as you come fresh from the beach transition effortlessly into the fall season with the simple addition of Sessùns camel boots. Magenta and mauve appear with an 80s appeal in chunky knitwear from French brand Des Petit Hauts, while Copenhagen label Baum und Pferdgarten’s fresh greens rule the season.”

“80s Nostalgia will be a huge trend this season, while a nod to a quirky 70s colour palette includes magenta, raspberry, canard, mauve, teal, and saffron. Less is more for fall, so we have pared back pieces from Sideline, with their olive cord jacket, alongside easy-to-wear essentials from top selling Scandi brands Wood Wood and Samsøe & Samsøe.”
